DOG BREED
Also referred to as the Continental Toy Spaniel, this petite dog is an endearing companion. Frequently seen in European royal portraits (the breed was especially favored by Marie Antoinette), the Papillon features delightful "butterfly-wing" ears and unique facial markings. The drop-eared variation is called the Phalène (which means moth in French). These dogs thrive on human companionship and appreciate ample playtime and exercise. They are quick to mingle with other dogs and new people. The long, fine, silky coat necessitates daily grooming to avoid tangles.
